❓ Common Questions
How do I add a reader?
Tap the + button on the home screen after logging in as a Parent. You can add as many readers as you'd like.
Can my kids use the app on their own device?
Yes! Log in with the same parent account on any device and all readers and their data will sync automatically.
What happens if I close the app while the timer is running?
The timer keeps running in the background. When you reopen the app you'll see a banner to return to the active session.
How do I print a progress report?
Go to the Parent View (tap Parent on the role screen and enter your password). Tap the 🖨️ Print button in the top right corner.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" and we'll send a reset link to your email.

Who We Are

What Information We Collect

When you create a parent account we collect:

  • Your full name and email address
  • A password (stored securely and never visible to us)
  • Whether you opted in to receive tips and updates

When you set up readers and track reading we collect:

  • Children's first names, ages, and upcoming grade
  • Reading session data (duration, dates, books read)
  • Book titles, authors, page counts, and ratings you enter
  • Goal and prize configurations you set

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the Summer Reading Challenge service across your devices
  • To sync your family's reading data in real time
  • To send you tips, updates, and news about the app if you opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • We do not sell your data to any third party
  • We do not use your data for advertising

Children's Privacy

Summer Reading Challenge is designed to be used by parents on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Children's reading data (name, sessions, books) is stored under the parent's account and is only accessible to that parent.

How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Authentication), which is a Google Cloud service. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Firebase's privacy policy can be found at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at whitedaisyiowa@gmail.com. We will process your request within 30 days.
